Biography
Part of the Nantwich youth side that faced Manchester United in the FA Youth Cup in 1952. Although the young Dabbers lost 23-0, the local press reported that Maurice had an ‘outstanding game’.
The left back gained Mid-Cheshire League experience with Whitchurch Alport (52/53) and Crewe Alexandra ‘A’ (53/54). Made 10 appearances for Burnley’s Lancashire League side, 53/54, before returning to London Road in October 1954. Made his debut in the 4-0 home defeat to Lostock Gralam, 30/10/1954, but returned to Mid-Cheshire League rivals Whitchurch Alport. In April 1956 he re-signed for Crewe Alexandra (55-56:6,0) and, converted to a centre forward, making his League debut at home to Chester, 11/04/1956.
Moved on to Bangor City in November 1956, switching to Colwyn Bay (1958-59) before joining Welsh League side Prestatyn in August 1960.
