Biography

One of the most prolific scorers in Nantwich’s history, joining the club in November 1974 from Sandbach Ramblers and having previously been at Winsford United.

A window cleaner by trade, Johnny is fondly remembered by Nantwich fans for a sensational hat-trick which fired the Dabbers to glory in the 1976 Cheshire Senior Cup Final and was named runner-up as Cheshire County League Player of the Season. Top scorer in three seasons at the old London Road ground, he netted nearly a century of goals for Nantwich.

Formed a formidable strike partnership with Brian Griffin with whom he also played at Witton Albion and Macclesfield Town. Moved on to Leek Town in October 1977, scoring 30 times before joining Macclesfield (1978/79:9+1,1) in the summer of 1978. Signed for Witton (1978-81:117,84) in March 1979 before moving back to Macclesfield (1981-83:63+7,33).

Made a solitary substitute appearance back at Witton in February 1985 before finishing off his career at Buxton.
